Upon boarding the Mary Celeste, the crew of the Dei Gratia found the ship in seaworthy condition, with sails set and no immediate signs of distress. Yet, the ship was deserted. The lifeboat was missing, and one of the pumps had been disassembled. Remarkably, the cargo was largely intact, and there was a six-month supply of food and water.
